WebCATS 4.1 Build 420 is Almost Here

Softshare has a new build of WebCATS 4.1 brewing. Don’t we always?

It’s due out in approximately four weeks and will incorporate several sizzling new summer features. We won’t detail every new enhancement until 420 is actually released, but here’s a preview of the three biggest features coming your way:

Note: If you haven’t yet upgraded to build 419, which was released in early May, we recommend that you hold off until build 420 is available so that you only have to perform the upgrade procedure once.

User-Defined Fields
You may already be familiar with the concept of user-defined fields because Softshare ‘CATS has supported the creation of user-defined fields in client records for many years now. In build 420, user-defined fields will be supported within contact, conference, inquiry, milestone, and investment records as well. As shown in this graphic, user-defined fields will be configured in WinCATS, but will be available for data entry only in WebCATS.

Contact Activity
At the bottom of every open client record, an activity history list displays, summarizing all of the counseling sessions, awards, investments, milestones, and survey responses associated with the client. In build 420, this list will expand in scope, as shown in this graphic to include all inquiries and conference attendances that are associated with any of the contacts found in the client record. This will allow you to better track the “life” of the client, especially if they attended a conference or submitted an inquiry before becoming a client.

Custom Activity Forms Module
This one is a biggie—and it’s optional with build 420. In other words, it’s an add-on component for Softshare ‘CATS that requires purchase if you decide it’s something your center wants to implement.

The Custom Activity Forms module will let you create user-defined client activity forms. The fields on these forms, and their possible data values, can be anything you dream up. The only requirements are that the forms must be able to be associated with client records (i.e. they must represent client activity) and must carry several basic data fields such as center, counselor, activity date, and so on.

As with user-defined fields, custom activity forms will be configured in WinCATS, but will only be available for viewing, creation, and editing in WebCATS, as shown here.

The Custom Activity Forms module isn’t available yet, but it will be soon. So start thinking about whether you’d like to include it in your build 420 upgrade. For pricing or other details, contact your sales representative.
