Steps Taken to Minimize HUBZone Program Fraud

In July, the SBA published a press release regarding the HUBZone program. Titled “HUBZone Fact Sheet,” the release outlined a number of steps the agency has recently taken to improve the program’s management and minimize fraud.

Notably, SBA is notifying HUBZone firms that they may be asked to document their eligibility at any time as part of a program examination. In addition, firms that have received HUBZone contracts must be prepared to submit to site visits for eligibility verification. The SBA will move immediately to decertify, debar, and prosecute anyone that has committed fraud in connection with the HUBZone program.
