How to Generate the Chrisman Report

If you’re affiliated with a Small Business Development Center, you’ve probably heard of the Chrisman report. Unofficially named after Mr. Chrisman himself, this report compiles important economic impact findings.

Softshare WinCATS provides an easy way for you to gather client statistics relevant to the Chrisman report. A category of management reports, called demographic reports, lets you easily calculate the number of clients who have:

Received five or more counseling session hours (preparation + contact hours) during the reporting period (Demographic Data #1 report)
Received five or more counseling session hours (preparation + contact hours) during the reporting period and responded to a survey within the reporting period, as displayed in the Last Survey Date/Response field found in the client record (Demographic Data #2 report)

These client numbers are then broken out using a variety of criteria such as company status, business type, business ownership gender, and ethnic background. The resulting output can be submitted to the creators of the Chrisman report.

Available by selecting Reports|Demographic Reports from WinCATS (demographic reports are not available in WebCATS), the Demographic Reports criteria screen is similar to other management report screens, letting you tailor your output based on record subsets, date range, counseling session types, total counseling session hours, funding sources, and centers.
