In last month's column, we talked about global exclusions, a series of restrict not statements designed to filter out certain types of bid opportunities. This month, I’d like to introduce you to an optional third element that you may add to your center's global file. It’s called the NotSame exclusion and its intention is to filter out bid opportunities that call out a specific product and request that the product be bid without exception. In other words, product substitution is not allowed. There are two statements in the NotSame exclusion that, when found in a bid opportunity, will cause the opportunity to be eliminated from search profile output:
bid<>without<>exception unauthorized<>substitution
