Desktop Shortcuts to WebCATS

Microsoft Internet Explorer provides an easy way for you to create a desktop shortcut for WebCATS. Simply right-click somewhere in the WebCATS interface and select “Create Shortcut” from the context menu that appears. We know that many of you have created desktop shortcuts that immediately launch the WebCATS’ login page.

HOWEVER, any desktop shortcut that you create from the WebCATS interface will have additional scripting language appended to the end of the shortcut URL. For example, a shortcut created from the login page references a URL that looks something like this:

You do not want the extra scripting language that comes at the end of this URL as part of your launch page because it can cause strange behavior as you move through the WebCATS application. But it’s easy to remedy: right-click the shortcut once it’s been placed on your desktop and edit the properties of the URL so that it looks like this instead:
